our love story

When i first met Kris it was in high school in 2006.  he had just moved from mesa and it was his first week of school at bash high. something stood out about him to catch my attention because he had a perm. yes you heard me right... a perm! i thought it was odd but funny at the same time. we had no classes together but i noticed that every night when i went to mutual he was there! he always stayed after to play a little basketball so finally after a couple weeks i worked up the nerve to go talk to him and "make the move". so i walked up to him and started talking smack on how i could school him in basketball any day. so after that we started to see each other more and more during school since he started hanging around some of my friends. finally i decided to make the move again... i decided to call his house an talk on the phone after school! that was the cool thing to do back then when you don't have cell phones. haha i remember to this day being so nervous! so we started to talk more an more everyday, started writing notes to eachother and also started hanging out together with our friends! my first time hanging out with him out of school was his 16th birthday. so fun! So after a couple weeks he asked me to homecoming 2006, such a fun night! there is one thing for certain i was crazy for this country boy who hunted, went to the dunes, worked on his own vehicles, and was so sweet! i remember thinking he was the most amazing kid because no one else was like him! finally 1/1/2007 we made it official and were boyfriend and girlfriend!!
So we were in heaven and just having a blast that year then something really big happened. kristopher was in globe with his family visiting his grandparents, and i was in Utah visiting my grandparents/aunts/uncles. we rarely get the chance to go up there to utah and visit so i just love it when we are up there. Anyways, so i was at my grandparents house when my phone goes off. it was a picture message from kris. so i open the text to see a picture of my dad when he was a baby. there were a couple thoughts going through my head. 1)i have only seen this picture in a old photo album at my house 2)was kris in my house? 3) what is going on. so i called him. he answered in a excited anxious voice and i simply said "okay how did you get that picture of my dad?" Kris proceeds to say that him and his family was going through old pictures at mema and pepas house(lawrence and fern mcclendon) and he was thumbing through a bunch of old pictures of his grandpa in the war. then he gets to the pictures of my dad and stares at it for a little bit then says to his grandma "that looks like my girlfriends dad". Mema replied with "oh thats danny boy". Kris said "who". Mema said "Dan Townsend". Kris started to freak! he couldnt believe it! He told them that is my dad and that is when we found out that mine and Kris's grandpa's were/are best friends! They grew up together here in az, pepa lived with him for while, pepa baptized my grandpa! All this informatio was just flooding in and just couldnt believe it!! After a long phone call of Kris telling me all this and me being in shock i finally ended the call. I then went over to my grandpa who was sitting on the couch and ask him "grandpa, do you know a lawrence mcclendon". He grined and said "of course that was my best friend back in the day". i then explained to him the picture i got from my boyfriend and the exciting crazy info we just found out. i sat there and just soaked in the stories my grandpa began to tell me. my family couldnt believe it either.
Im a firm believer in destiny and fate. i think kris and i were ment to find eachother and be together. we continued to date for 4 years untill the day came that kristopher asked my dad for permission to marry me on 4/20/11 and then he popped the question on 4/23/11.
